The upcoming “Batman” by Matt Reeves is slowly taking shape. The two actors Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis, are supposed to be in the conversation for the roles of Penguin and Alfred Pennyworth.

According to the deadline, Farell is currently negotiating with Warner Bros. to impersonate the legendary Batman opponent Penguin.

The new Batman film is also supposed to show Bruce Wayne from a completely different side than the previous films.

As the Irish-born actor confirms, he will be seen next to Robert Pattinson as Batman and Paul Danos “Riddler” as well as Zoë Kravitz “Catwoman.” It will be the first comic film return of the actor since he impersonated “Bullseye” in the failed Marvel movie “Daredevil” of 2003.

Colin Farrell Plays (Cast) the Penguin in The Batman Movie

The ‘Fantastic Animal Being and Where to Find Them’ actor will take on the role of mobster Oswald Cobblepot, better known by his rogue name Penguin, in the planned film.

The Origin Batman story is filmed by director Matt Reeves, while none other than Robert Pattinson plays the title role. But besides Farrell, there is more casting news on the ‘Batman’ front: Andy Serkis, known for his portrayal of Gollum in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies, will also be featured in the new DC comic strip.

Serkis will play the role of Batman’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth. As announced some time ago, Paul Dano has also been hired as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright, as Commissioner Gordon and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman.

Robert Pattinson As Batman

Robert Pattinson, however, tries to give his portrayal of the dark avenger the necessary dark side. In an interview with The New York Times, he said: “Batman’s not a hero, though. He’s a complicated character. I don’t think I could ever play a real hero — there’s always got to be something a little bit wrong. I think it’s because one of my eyes is smaller than the other one.”

Danny DeVito, the original portrayal of The Penguin from Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, has responded to Colin Farrell being cast in the role for the upcoming The Batman Movie.

“Colin is a great actor. I’m excited to see what he’ll do in part,” DeVito said. “It’s a great, many-layered character, so I’m very, very excited to see that because I was a big fan of comic books, and I loved working with Tim.

The Batman comes to cinemas on June 25, 2021.
